Howdy, PPC Thoughts folks. I really respect and appreciate the information, advice, and ideas I have picked up from this website and the forums here. So, being in my current situation, I am going to pose this question and see what kind of suggestions, advice, and answers come up. Hopefully, I'll get the right one and be happy with the results.

My latest PPC, an HP iPAQ rx3115, was recently stolen, so I need to get a replacement ASAP. I'm somewhat of a veteran PDA user, having gone from starting out years ago with a Palm Pilot Pro, moving on to a Palm IIIC, then moving on to a Siemens SX56 Pocket PC/Phone. Next I went through 2 iPAQ 1945's (having lost one... on a picnic, no less! and loved it so much I spent 2 entire days finding a replacement, as it was towards the end of its selling lifecycle) and then moved on to my recent loss, the 3115, which I also loved and was just getting to know how to use and enjoy the multimedia features of.

I have a Pharos Bluetooth GPS receiver and just got a Motorola A630 mobile phone that has bluetooth built in, and would like to be able to maybe do some things with it. I also have several other accessories that I know work with the 3115 (and compatible, which I'm not most certain which those would be), such as car/travel chargers, USB connections, headphones, etc. and would like to be able to utilize all these current items as much as possible.

I recently quit my job teaching the the Los Angeles USD and am starting my own business, basically doing things such as helping computer "newbies" select, set-up, and learn how to use their computers, helping people with older systems update their system's hardware and software to meet their current needs, do some digital photography work, and temporary personal assistant/audio-video set-up/personal shopper types of work. I will depend on my PPC to keep my schedule, client data, and other important information up-to-date.

The question I am posing is, what would you do in my situation? I want to get the best PPC for a decent price and be off and running with it ASAP. I eagerly await your suggestions!

I'd take a look at the hx2000 series. It would be compatible with all the accessories you have for your 3115, including the GPS and phone. It is a bit more professional than the Media PPC focus of the 3000 series, though it can do the vaste majority of the media functions. (Don't think it comes with Nevo or the HP Media center stuff though). It is also on the list for WM2005 upgrade AFAIK, so it has a bit of obsolesence insurance.

If you can swing the price, I'd go for the higher end model. The other option of course is the 4700 series, though those prices are a bit higher too. It has the obvious advantage of the VGA screen, but has that weird touch pad.

HP iPaq hx2410 review here (http://www.dalantech.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/74606/an/0/page/0#74606) -it's an excellent PDA! :)

As Sven, I'd too go with either the hx2xxx or the hx4700 series.

If you don't need VGA (because you only use your PDA as a PIM device), the former could be a better (and cheaper) choice.

I really like the Nevo feature that comes with the 3115... you can set up remote control for tv's, vcr's, dvd players, etc. It's very useful when travelling... especially when the remote control in your motel room is broken, missing, or for the wrong tv!

I think for what I do with my PPC, I'm going to go with another 3115. Plus, I've found a few places that sell reconditioned ones for about $260.00. I'm going to try to pick one up today, since they are right here in the Los Angeles area.

Thanks for your suggestions!
