But it took all of the abuse that I put it through and it looks like it just came out of the package..."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/westfall-20050531-javo.jpg" /> <br /><br />If you've been thinking of grabbing a clear case for your 2200, or a Javo Edge clear case in general, this review might be of interest to you. Err . OK. useful to know that it resisted a drop - but what are these plastic cases like for scratch resistance - particularly the dulling scratches that happen when polishing the case to remove greasy fingerprints and marks etc?

Thanks for the post guys! 8)

Normal cleaning shouldn't scratch the case, unless there is something on it like sand ;) I was watching movies with the case closed during the two weeks that I was testing it and didn't notice any problems with scratches. I still have it sitting on my desk with the clay still in it. I could run my keys down it and see how bad it marks the case -although that might be pushing the envelope for what you'd expect out of hard plastic case...

I have a Proporta case. All these clear plastic boxes are the same, I believe. Hairline scratches appeared after 2 days of use (just from sharing the pocket with a pencil or other normal objects), and the back gets grazed quite quickly.

BUT, a few months later, none of the scratches can be said to dull the view. If it broke I'd run out and buy another one immediately. My trusty old black leather case is enjoying its preretirement in the drawer. Now I can read without opening the box and exposing the device to rain, free radicals, greasy fingers and bird****. I feel protected.

I wondered what would happen if it dropped heavily with the clear plastic jacket on, and then it happened. The "hinge" separated from the "tray," the PDA remained in the "tray," the "lid" bounced off. But The case absorbed the impact very well and there was no damage. My leather case would never have stood up to it.

Three people said to me, the week I started using the plastic case, "Hey, is that a new PDA?" (well I live in Spain so they actually said something like "Vaya, tienes un chisme nuevo"). Transparent cases give the impression you've invested in a streamlined device and got rid of the bulky old one. I plan to switch back to the black case after a while and really get people talking about me...

My 18 month old boy came up to me while I was watching a movie and tried to use a pencil on the screen (he's seen me use the stylus, so why not?). But there wasn't any damage since I had the cover on the case closed...

There are only two reason's why I'm not using the case now:

1) Like I said in the review: I have small hands. The case isn't thick, but it's just thick enough so that I prefer the "bare" hx2410.

2) Javo Edge sent it to me for free to review, and due to the review policy that we go by on my site I would have to either pay for the case if I continued to use it or send it back to Javo Edge. Since I wasn't going to use it, and since Javo couldn't sell it if I shipped it back, I decided to really abuse the case for the review :)
