Hello All!
I just got a new WindowsCE based pocket PC. I’ve had a Palm for years and I have accumulated many contact and a very busy calendar in my PalmOne software database on my desktop that I want to transfer over to this new pocket PC.
Is there a way to transfer or sync my PalmOne calendar to my WindowsCE calendar? What about my contacts? Do I have to put them in Outlook (which I know nothing about)? Can I use ACT?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I've got to say the easist conversion would be to Outlook. There are two ways. You can load Outlook on your machine and use the capability that comes with most Palm devices to sync with it (Chapura Pocket Mirror) and then Active Sync will sync your PPC. That assumes you still have the Palm device. If you don't and were using palm Desktop, Chapura makes a one time migration tool. It costs a few bucks and there is no trial, since it is basically a one time thing.
You mentioned ACT, and I don't know how you are syncing your current Palm with it. Certainly not an out-of-the-box capability. Intellisync does allow this with Palms and PPCs, so that might be an option.

You can also just export your Palm database to a comma-delimited text file, then import it into Outlook. Whichever method you use, you're going to have to manually review each & every entry to ensure the headers are right. Palm-to-Outlook conversion has a number of issues, mostly of the type of "Mobile number 2" gets labeled "email 3" upon conversion. The good news is that once you get everything into Outlook, you never have to go back.
I don't know what your current Palm device is but the most recent Palm Desktop release -
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk414e.html#req
- has a built-in conduit for Outlook, thereby bypassing the need to install a 3rd party program. Sadly, this Desktop is for a limited selection of devices and I really don't know what the result would be on earlier devices.
This was a timely Desktop release for me because I had decided to leap the chasm and go to WinMobile.
The installation was prety painless but there seemed to be a whack of warning dialog boxes coming up during the installation that seemed to suggest the Outlook conduit wouldn't work, yet when all was said and done, there was the converter in the Start > Program > Palm folder.
Having said that, I loathe and detest Outlook and desperately pine for my old Palm Desktop and the VersaMail conduit to Outlook Express. In fact, I had the boxes and packaging out today and was poised to call Dell and arrange a return of the PDA - but I'll take a breath and see if it helps...
Please post more info re: one-time Chapura utility.
Thanks!
