No word if it will be spelled "Palm" or "Pa1m." The really interesting thing is pa1mOne's platform choice rumors keep surfacing.<br /><br /><i>"...PalmOne has already said it's OS agnostic, and is believed to have Windows Mobile-based devices in the works. Maybe the Palm handle was too problematic for the Asian companies PalmSource is increasingly keen to target now that its main revenue strand, PalmOne, is considering other operating systems."</i><br /><br />There are some other interesting tidbits in the article too. pa1mOne's licensing revenue to PalmSource can be cut almost in half if PalmSource doesn't meet certain development milestones by the 2007-2009 range.

Reversing yesterday's trend, now the market is down and the stock is up. Things can turn around quickly. Nice 14% jump.

Ed, it has always been with an "L". "palmOne" has never been "pa1mOne."

That looks like a 1 to me. The "1" is the only one with the serifs at the top and bottom.

While journalists and other commentators have grown accustomed to calling the company PalmOne, anecdotal evidence from folk outside the industry reveals real consumers have never stopped dubbing the company Palm, in much the same way far too many people believed Apple's computers are made by a company called Mac.

I, for one, have NEVER heard of anyone referring to Apple as Mac Incorporated. I HAVE heard people continuing to use the Palm name though.

It looks like they just chose a different font for that one letter (others being a sans-serif variant while that one being a serif variant), creating the appearance of the numeral. Anyway you look at it, it's weird. (Hopefully, they didn't pay their advertising company too much for that idea.) They are listed on NAQDAQ as palmOne (all letters).

As in Pa1m0ne is a 10...

Whatever market analystists say, everyone I run into still says "PalmPilot".

As I said before, I hope Palm can get its software house in order. I don't think they can really afford to be too agnostic OS wise.

Any way you spell it, it still stands for "backwards" to me. I think its a step back in the right direction though.

I wonder what those say who hold it since IPO 18 months ago at 40$ when it now is at 10$. I call that an entire failure and current news probably just the second last whisper before the final end.

They say what most people say after buying in a stock at the IPO price -"**** why the hell did I buy the stock at the IPO price."

(I was responding to a previous comment made by Ed in his other post. You probably missed it.)

Can they change their name anymore? Make up your mind, Palm! Pick a name and stick with it! Sheesh.

I have to say, though, that Palm considering other OS options doesn't surprise me one bit. The writing's been on the wall for some time now. It's up to them whether they want to get in on the gravy train now by offering WM devices or continue to die off slowly. Either way is fine by me.
