I just use Internet Explorer. With the SQB pocketplus extensions. The only sites I usually visit are the BBC (mobile edition) and Pocketpcthoughts so it does me fine. Any other sites I can usually manage.

I've quick tested the clickfisch.net service with a self-developed snooper proxy to see what's exactly happening. I've tested this with both the WM2003SE PIE client and NetFront 3.1. gzip support-wise, Skweezer supported both browsers. Because NetFront 3.1 doesn't send out If-Modified-Since HTTP headers at all, Skweezer never returned 304 Not Modified to NF, unlike to PIE.

Pros:
- it does heavy image crunching, unlike Skweezer

Cons:
- it sends out malformed URL's to all pages, so a lot of them are simply unable to response with the requested page (for example my homepage), unlike Skweezer, which always returns the right page
- it has no HTML body gzip'ing, unlike Skweezer
- Skweezer has three display modes (one-column (PDA)/text only/original), unlike the one-column only offered by clickfisch.net.
- after a FORM POST (for example, logging in; it's needed with both free proxy services because none of them stores cookies between IE sessions), Skweezer doesn't mess up the URL of the page (it will still be, say, http://www.skweezer.net/s.aspx/2/www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/index.php ), unlike clickfisch.net (an example of the URL's issued by the latter is http://clickfisch.net/proxy/proxy.php?pppu=aHR0cDogd35sd3dy5wb2NrZXRwYdRob3VnaHRzLmNvbS9mb3J1bXMvaW5kZXgucGhwP3NpZD0yZjJkY2UzNWNiYTM1ZWNjYmIxMDI2ZWY3ZTNhY2ZkMA%3D%3D of the same PPCT page)

Incidentally, the last time I've scrutinized Skweezer ( see my remarks at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35450 ) I wasn't very happy with it because, then, it still didn't have GZIP HTML encoding and sent out a 110k JavaScript file to the client. Neither of them is the case any more, fortunately.

Therefore, I do NOT recommend clickfisch.net at all. It's just too bug-ridden. The only advantage it has over the free (!) Skweezer is the image crunching. This, if you use a local, image compression-capable proxy like RabbIT (or, have a GSM provider that provides this - say, Vodafone in Europe) soon becomes a non-issue, however, with Skweezer. And now that Skweezer also supports Gzip'ing and no longer sends out large JavaScript files, I can only recommend it.

I use skweezer and love it. Handles most sites well, and for the small percentage that don't do too well, I switch to text mode.

I agree with you. So far, Opera has been my best browsing experience and I also hoping to see a version for PPC released.

It was fortuitous that the theatre I was in line at last night had WIFI. This is the first real workout I’ve given PIE and it will be the last until Mozilla or something better comes out. PIE IS A POS AFAIK. :?

From what I've heard, PIE in WM5 is much improved. Let's hope. :)

I didnt said anything about new feautures because i'm not the author of this script, you can find him here (German PPC Comunity): http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=68400
I only host this script and also wait for an updated version, but you get an error when you want to reach the old url.

Thanks! It has an active user community - hope the author will have the time to fix the errors. (They are pretty easy to fix, I'd say, and as none of the currently available Web-based compressor/content stripper services are flawless, he could even make clickfisch the best.

Will register myself over at http://www.ppc-welt.info
