With it, you can listen to live music, news, weather and TV in just a few taps. The application also allows you to configure a 'favourites' list for all your frequently used channels. For more information on PocketStreamer, visit Handango, who also happen to be selling the application for $9.95. Unfortunately, a trial version is not available. [Affiliate]

What's the point in buying this stuff? It's just a collection of online streaming media contents as far as it can be seen (as there's no trial version). Collecting and categorizing links don't take much effort for an end-user...

Good question...
There are quite a lot of useless apps for the Palm and PPC markets. The difference is that they seem to think they can get away with charging $6.95 in the PPC market.
This is a novelty, nothing more. Make it freeware or bundle it with a suite of other similarly 'fluff' apps.
BTW, how many 'secure wallet' or 'encrypted notes' type apps are there now? 251454?

how does one see the weatherchannel streams then? I am a newbee when it comes to this. sounds like your guys know your stuff, but whenever I try to view streaming video on my pocket pc it doesn't work. this app looks like something appealing to someone like me who isn't savvy. I have gone to the weather channel and copied the properties for the streaming video and tried to open those in my media players "open url" and no dice. I certainly don't want to buy this if this is nothing more than a collection of links that I can obtain myself. please help.

This is a true example of a rip-off. However, its only because I know better that I say this. It's a pretty good business idea on making easy money out of the ignorance of others.
There are numerous sites out there that offer collections of categorized radio links for both PPC and desktop.

There's a reason for everything. Some people (particularly new users) probably aren't as technologically minded as some of us, and would much rather fork out the $9.99 for trouble-free channel goodness.
But on a personal level, I'm with you though. If it's something I could do myself, I'd save the dough.

It depends on the country you're located in. Often, TV stations may have their own streaming weather feeds which you can tap on to. Otherwise, Real and Windows Media have a list you can browse through - some are subscription-based though (e.g. SmartVideo). If I recall correctly, the Weather Channel Mobile works through SmartVideo. Visit http://windowsmediamobile.theplatform.com/ on your Pocket PC and you'll get given a list of mobile-friendly content.

I suspect that this application works on the basis that you already have an internet access on your Pocket PC or palm. If you already have this, you can access most of the sites without this software. That said, this software may have collected these sites together to make it easier for you to access them. It may therefore be a worthwhile application as long as it is not too expensive.

I live in the USA. Yes, I have been the windows mobile content and it is OK. At first I though it would be a lot less trouble to have a list someone else compiled, but if weather channel streams are going to require a subscription, then forget it. I have tried smartvideo and it was OK, but I think that this area of streaming video has a lot of work to be done. The content is still too limited for my taste.
Personally, I can see how someone might want this software. As you say, new users would benefit from it. In itself, the look and package have value even though some might not prefer it. I think perhaps that 2 or 5 dollars would be a better price however. :)

As bad as some commercials are, I don't have a problem with them as long as the service is free. It's when I'm already paying for something like a movie or a magazine and I have to endure commercials that I get upset. I keep hearing that they'll start pushing advertisements out to cell phones. That's when we need to start a rebellion.
