Apologies for asking a really basic question but I am new to PPCs after 10 years of Palms ...

I have had no joy loading e-Sword on my SD card. I know the normal drill is that "To install on a storage card: During installation, the installation program will ask if you want to install at the default destination. Say no and you will be guided" and that I have to load the basic app on RAM but I understand that it should be possible to load bibles and other resources on the card - but all I get is a message saying that the PPC cannot load e-Sword because there is no Bible in /Program Files / e-Sword. I have an hx4700.

What am I doing wrong?

My bibles, etc. are in Storage Card/Pocket e-Sword. I believe I had to run the .exe for the bible on the pc and then copy them over to the folder on the sd card. The main program is loaded in memory. When I hard reset and reload Pocket e-sword, the first time I start up the program it asks where the bibles, commentaries, etc. are located and I click it for the sd card.

Baker, thanks that is useful because it shows what is not happening in my case - instead of asking where the resources are located my message simply says e-Sword can't start because there are no Bibles in the main directory. It doesn's ask where they are located.

Also once I'm into e-Sword after loading a bible in the main memory, there is a menu item called "Resource location" which I would have thought should allow me to point to the other resources but nothing happens when I select it.

Any ideas?

It's a very basic question, but first thing I'd make sure of is did you load the version for your operating system? He's written Pocket E-sword for both 2002 and 2003.

Otherwise, I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling. Once you point it to the proper folder on your SD card, it should work nicely.

I have installed (and re-installed) the 2003 Mobile version - but my ppc is running Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Could that be the reason for my problem? Is there a work-around?

I have a Dell x30 with WM2003SE. Actually, I no longer have the problem with Strong's linking that I did with 2002.

Have you tried contacting Rick Meyers? He's pretty good about getting back with support questions

thanks for the suggestion Emuelle1 - Rick came back pronto with this advice:

The 4700 ships with a problematic version of the Compact Framework. You can upgrade it from the following Microsoft web site:
