Just as an addition: If you are with ATT (even though it's Cingular now), your phone number has to be *99# only. Different carries may have different numbers, so check with tech support for tethering.

Also, since I am a former AT&T customer (and continue on my previous AT&T phone and plan), I can buy a digital plan for $80 for unlimited access to mMode (on my phone) AND to the Internet (when I tether my SMT5600 to my notebook or PDA). The price for unlimited mMode is $25.

If you are a Cingular customer, you can get MediaWorks for $20. However, if you want to have unlimited Internet access on your PC or PDA) you have to buy an additional unlimited data plan that costs $80.

So to get the access on your phone, PDA and PC, you pay $100 with Cingular vs. $80 with "AT&T".
