The traffic maps that I use are from http://traffic.tann.net.

No luck for me. Tann wouldn't let me register, at least, I kept getting "This page cannot be found" each time I tried, and neither has a PDA traffic map for my area.

How can either of these sites consider themselves production ready and not come out the stalls with the DC Metropolitan area?

Then edgeq doesn't seem to list all of their cities. The list about 7 then say "and many more".

Maybe we should be sending them the link to this thread and see if they have any idea of responding or updating.

It's useless to me (not living anywhere it would cover) but I looked out of interest.

Did they hike up the price since you posted? You say it's $2, but the link says it's $5.

This software seems a little useless to me.

The traffic flow map in the original post is the traffic map created and maintained by Washington State DOT. You can take a look at the Washington State DOT's Seattle traffic flow map here (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/) to see what I'm talking about. Maybe this company reformatted the page for optimal viewing on a PPC.

Since the software requires a live link to the Internet to provide real-time updates, someone could just as easily navigate to the DOT web page using PIE and view the web page for free.

I don't see the added value for the subscription fee for users in Washington state. The only thing this product seems to provide is a reformatted web page. If the DOT's web page doesn't render well on a PPC, then things would be different. I don't have a wireless connection so I can't confirm this.

For those of you who live in the Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. area, there is a free program called CEflow that provides a similar function. I have used it on my Dell Axim x50v, and it works quite well. I don't remember the website off the top of my head, but it should be easily found on Google.

Have you tried either of the 1.5Beta versions? They seem to be a couple of years old?

It was $2 when I first followed the link to the story yesterday afternoon.

I'll have to check the DOT's web page.

I was so excited to hear about this until I tried the software.

I live in Los Angeles, and this software is a piece of Garbage. There are less than 5 cameras on LA Freeway? The pictures are fuzzy and don't get updated. It kept showing me the same picture! The overall traffic map is very hard to read. There is no Zoom function. I would not pay any money for this.

If you live in Georgia you can get this service for free. The Georgia-Navigator site has a handheld-friendly version at:

Prior to my earlier post in this thread, I tried looking for a link to this program from the DOT web site. The DOT web site used to have links to CEflow and Palm software that downloaded traffic data from the DOT. If I remember correctly, CEflow was developed by a computer science student from the U of W a few years ago.

I downloaded the CEFlow program recently and it would not work because I installed it on storage card. The developer is very responsive and helped via email very quickly. It is a great program and updates almost instantly.

The caution is if you do a websearch for CEFlow and come up with a webpage that offers an updated v1.5 for $1 this is a scam. The real developer is honest and has never charged for the program and it hasn't been updated from v1.4 although the developer is considering that now.

If you go the way of signing up for the $1 update to v1.5 you will get ripped for $48 (supposedly for 48 months of download service that is not explained on the billing page) from a "freemusicdownload" website and "SGADA" billing service. You can get them to reverse the charges but you will have to make several calls.
