They allow you to work on documents, send e-mail, surf the Web, watch videos, and display photos. However, all of this can be a strain on your eyes since you're restricted to a small screen--but that's not to say you're destined for poor eyesight. These five PDAs have exceptional screens that boast vibrant colors and sharp resolution. The HP iPaq hx4700, the Dell Axim X50v, and the Asus MyPal A730 shine bright with their 640x480-pixel, VGA screens, and the hx4700's 4-inch-diagonal screen gives you more viewing real estate than the standard 3.5 inches. Also, the latest PalmOne devices, the Tungsten T5 and E2, show off crisp images and text, as well as more than 65,000 colors. Read on to see if one is right for you."</i><br /><br />Bonnie Cha, an associate editor at ZD Net, has put together a chart with several of the PDAs on the market today with the best screens, and given them ratings. The article is fairly bland because all of the devices receive a score between 7.0 and 7.9, so there's not a lot of room for one to shine.

It isn't VGA, but I absolutely love the screen on my current iPaq 5550. It's the fifth or sixth 5550 I've had (due to an extended warranty) but it beats the pants off of any of the previous units I've had.

Zdnet gives the T3... an 8.0 rating, the second highest PDA rating... second to the Dell X30 at 8.1.

Oh... and the HP rz1710 has a 7.7 rating.

Don't take Zdnet/Cnet PDA ratings to heart.

what about the LOOX 720? mine has an awesome screen; its better than the ipaq 4705 that I had for a short time (size isn't everything you know)

Ratings like these shouldn't be taken seriously. I also have a Zire71, which has the same screen as the T3 (except for the resolution), and it's clearly less vibrant than the hx4700, as with all the other PDA's (except for the Sony Clie VZ90 and the Pocket Loox 720).

Haven't read the article yet (I am over a slow GPRS connection with my PDA), but I seriously doubt they used real-world shots, unlike I and Deslock at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35630, which is a must for all people that REALLY want to know the REAL difference between screens.

The two devices have exactly the same SONY screen (the most vibrant and contrasty Pocket PC screens but not the best color neutrality-wise, I'd say), except for the different dpi. You may want to check out my comparison shots of the two devices, next to each other, along with my Zire71 and my Casio E-125.
