I bought some ClearScreen Overlays and I'm wondering if there is something better out there. There were a few different types to choose from at Circuit City and I had no idea what to choose. These seem to make the screen a little hazy, which I find annoying.
Can anyone direct me to some better ones? Is it possible to get a crystal clear image with these things at all? Are they *really* necessary? I'm new at all this, so any advice is appreciated. :)

Screen protectors are so cheap, and Pocket PCs are so expensive. I really recommend using one.
BoxWave's protectors are very good. They're easy to apply (no bubbles -- I can't live with bubbles), and the visibility through them is excellent. You can get them in anti-glare or clear.
I've had the anti-glare ones on other Pocket PCs and loved them because I hate cleaning smudges off the screen or seeing reflections when I'm in sunlight. Unfortunately, I found with my latest Pocket PC (the VGA Asus MyPal), the anti-glare protector -- and any protector from another company -- made the screen display hard to look at. Somehow the colours separated, like they were refracting.
So I didn't use a screen protector for a while, and my screen got a scratch. Just a minor one, but it's there, and I know it's there. So I've ordered the clear BoxWave protector. Hopefully it'll work.
If you want your Pocket PC to last, use a screen protector.
Here's BoxWave's website:

Proporta screen protectors are also excellent. They are very clear and feel like paper when you write.
I would say these items have developed to the stage when you can choose your brand for its clarity or texture, more than for its performance.
I would also say, go for those one-item-in-the-packet wonders. They give you one because it lasts, not because they want to rip you off. Boxwave and Proporta are equals these days.
Proporta protectors do feel tougher and I can honestly say they scratch less on my PDA than Boxwave's do.

I'd recommend getting some sort of screen protectors. Over the last 5 years or so I have always used them, execpt for my very first PDA (because I didn't know better) and the PDA before my current one now. I had really enjoy the crisp of the screen and decided with my last PDA to for go using them. Over the short use of that PDA (like 6 months) I had more scratches and marks on that screen than I ever had on any PDA. I am so very careful with my PDAs and when I saw the marks was shocked how they got there.
Easy to say I learned my lession and any PDA I will ever own and now own gets a screen protector when it comes out of the box.
