Folks,

Can anybody here posts the settings for using Cingular (US) Data with an iPaq (hx2750 ) and a SonyEricsson Phone?

I'll need to connect via bluetooth. Also, I'm planning to use the Media Works Plan (Unlimited for phone). I was told that you can connect a PDA via it, though.

Any help will be appreciated...

Make sure you can connect to the Internet using your phone alone first.
Switch BT on on your phone and ipaq then pair your devices, (which I won't go into here as it's simple).

Then 'add a new modem connection' on the ipaq by clicking on the Connections icon in Settings (not the bluetooth bumpf).
Name it whatever you want and choose Bluetooth Dialup Modem as the modem.
For the Number enter *99***1#
On the next screen enter:
User name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Then click finish and that's it.

Then go out and buy a kensington USB BT dongle for your laptop and that'll work nicely through your phone too.

Here's a link which leads to everything you need to know but you have to hunt around for it:

I have the mediaworks $20 thing.

I have an 4155 and a SonyEricsson T616 with Cingular. I have things set up like jpf said, with the following addition:

Under Advanced... >> General:
Extra dial-string modem commands: +cgdcong=1,"IP","wap.cingular"

If things don't work, play around with the settings. One thing to try is in the dialing string (*99***1#) change the 1 into a 2 (or 3 or ...). It should work with a 1 though, as that's the default.

Folks,

The instructions are not working :( I tried everything including the string commands and it will not connect.

I can see the PDA connecting with the phone. But everytime it comes back with "Cannot connect for an unknown reason". Any suggestions?

does your phone work by itself? by that I mean can you surf?
In settings, connections, bluetooth manager; check you have 'Dial Up Network...' shortcut for your phone. If you had named you phone T637, it should say:
T637: Dial up Network..

If it isn't there, you didn't pair correctly.
