Is there a way to send a text message from one bluetooth enabled PPC to another? I need a better way to pass notes in class.

well to start there's always bluejacking.

Just make a new contact, but instead of putting a name in the 'Name' field, put a message in there.
Then just send via bluetooth.

I seem to remember there was a piece of freeware that acted like IM with other Bluetooth PPC's, but it didn't work with other bluetooth devices (laptops, phones).

Ok, those stupid Bluetooth Messenger programs have never worked for me. I have tried all of them and none work successfully. But, I hope you aren't cheating with your PPC - that would just not be cool bro.

Not cheating. They don't allow any electronic devices into our exams. I'm just trying to survive increadibly boring lectures. Thanks for the advice.

I use text messaging on a cell phone for those long boring classes. LOL

Just a bit of warning: most people (including me) weren't able to run ProximityMail. See http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38291 on this. I hven't checked the latest, 06-04-2005 version, though.
