HP has silently removed their hx4700 sound fix ?!

Silently (anybody knows of an official explanation?), HP has removed the sound upgrade ( http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/22515.html ) from their pages. Also, their centralized hx4700 upgrade page ( http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/locate/1120_6089.html ) no longer has the link to the upgrade.

Why was it removed (recalled?)? Any info on this?

I put it on and noticed that the sound (through headphones) seemed a bit subdued (and kind of muffled).

I don't want to restore so I guess i'll have to wait for them to fix it.

After speaking with HP online support, I backed up... did a hard reset... restored... and now my sound seems to be back to what it was. :-)

that upgrade is not a ROM upgrade so all you had to do was to go to Start/Settings/Remove programs and remove it. ;)

I thought that, but the nice lady on the other end of my modem said that even a hard reset would probably have no effect.

I assumed the Audio Fix program must have contained some kind of patch.
