There's a new dialog to explicitly control the features.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20050406-Tweaks2K2350.jpg" /><br /><br />I'd love to see this functionality for other Pocket PCs -- if for no other reason than to allow users to turn off that <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3207">irritating flashing Bluetooth light</a>. If you agree, or even if you don't, you can actually <b>win</b> a free copy of Tweaks2K2 right now: ctitanic has generously announced that he'll give free copies to the first three users that correctly post (<i>without</i> editing their post afterwards) the total number of hacks in Tweaks2K2. Good luck!

... I'd love to see this functionality for other Pocket PCs -- if for no other reason than to allow users to turn off that irritating flashing Bluetooth light.
ctitanic also offers the following separately:
Category: Freewares
"Turn ON/OFF WiFi/BT LEDs in hx4700"
This zip files contains 4 little exes that allow to turn on and off
the LEDs for WiFi and BT in hx4700s.

Yes, thatīs correct, but not just 4, I believe that I added to that file the last 3 exes to control the power LED too. Those are supposed to work only with hx4700s but I would appreciate if you guys test it to find out if they work with others. 8)

I'd like to have the ablilty to turn on the flashing blue LED for WiFi / Bluetooth activity on my rx3715. It ould be useful to know when it is communicating.

You think that's irritating? You should own an imate where the power button is so sensitive that it powers on in your pocket or purse. I know when I reach in to use it and the BT LED is flashing that I'm going to have to perform a HARD reset. @#*@

I would like the ability to filter the words of idiots and screaming children.

Also the complaining of my wife if possible.

If these are not possible, the the ability to go deaf at will would be great!

Thanks
Thanos

And then after I'd hard reset my i-mate PDA2k and restored from a recent Sprite backup, the Button Lock function is always turned off even if I've had it on before (and even if it was always on whenever I did a Sprite backup -- FYI I always take a full backup including persistent storage, in case this makes the backup more complete?). You know how easy it is then to have the PDA2k accidentally turned on in your pocket 8O

Anyways I too would like LED modification support for other PPCs like the Phone Edition devices and older iPAQ models (if some kind users would be willing to donate, er.. lend their PPCs to ctitanic for "indefinite" testing) ;)

And I also wanted to ask, what's the best way to recover when something (like the NetFront/PIE cache) corrupted your ROM filestore area -- is it something that can be patched/fixed along Tweaks2K2's alley?? I first noticed that Resco Explorer couldn't seem to access the filestore, then after a soft reset some bootup app called the Comm Flash Manager complained about the filestore error and said it will be deleted, and after that it just doesn't show up at all. This happened to me very early this morning, and forced me to hard reset (unfortunately I hadn't done a backup in over a week, during which time I'd done a lot of changes).

The hard reset seemed to have restored the ROM filestore (with seemingly all the existing files intact, so there couldn't have been a reformat). So I was wondering what exactly the hard reset did to fix it...

In the past when I'd had similar corruption problems with SD cards I'd ended up reformatting them (after trying to copy what I can of the existing content first)...

How does the light effect the battery. I would mind sacrificing the light if it saved on battery power.

I never have seen any study about that, would be good if somebody with a little time does some tests. LED are not big consumers but they sucks some battery anyway.

If so.... 93 is that answer!

I know, I'm desperate.

It's a TERRIFIC application. I've only ever been lucky enough to use the eval version. Would love to get this; I'm sure my 4700 would love this.

Great website by the way. I'm on here 50 times a day waiting for the latest news. To be honest, there are a lot of similar websites but I think Pocket PC Thoughts towers above the rest.

Keep up the great work guys!

Never store the PIE cache in ROM filestore because it will really slow down the execution of PIE, even if you switch off images completely. You may want to check out my benchmarks of this at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36376 .

BTW, you were lucky to have managed to restore your file store - it's pretty common for Pocket PC PDA's not be able to make the file store visible at all, not even with a hard reset. See for example http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&amp;threadid=113388 on this.

you are right. thatīs not a good idea of having the cache in the iPaq file store. I managed one that I got mine corrupted to get it back using one of the Card formating tools around. I have heard about the iPaq ROM case of desappearing but I believe that that case is hardware failure.

Thanks guys. I did see your benchmarks earlier Menneisyys, which had caused me to uninstall NetFront (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38264&amp;start=29) from the ROM filestore (which is supposedly much slower for browser caching), and reinstall it to main RAM.

Then again, Surur has recently pointed out (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38971&amp;postdays=0&amp;postorder=asc&amp;start=1) how you found that NetFront does not even use its cache for online browsing (no conditional HTTP GET)...

Anyways, I'd left the PIE cache pointed to the ROM filestore since I've hardly used it and instead use mainly NetFront (I set NetFront as the default browser). However I also recently started using Omega One's Journal Bar that I had installed in the past, and it turns out Journal Bar is integrated into PIE somehow (in fact Journal Bar's web cache location seems to actually become the new PIE cache location as well!). That's the reason I found myself using PIE more often.

BTW currently I have the Journal Bar cache location (and thus the new PIE cache location as well) pointed to the SD card, but now I'm afraid this kind of storage corruption is likely to happen again with either ROM filestore or SD card for any type of browser caching (Surur had also mentioned this as I recall). On the other hand I can't just leave the Journal Bar/PIE cache set to main RAM because Journal Bar's downloaded content eats up a lot of megabytes!
