Couldn't the Nintendo DS have been smaller and thinner? Or is there just a big battery? This is what I have been wondering. Anyone have a good idea if Nintendo will probably make a much more portable one in the near future?

It COULD have been smaller, no doubt. But that would have meant sacrificing battery power, screen size, usability, or (most likely) low costs.
It'll be a while before they make a new handheld; they're not like PDA makers who keep refining their devices, they'll stick to that form factor for the DS for quite a well. Remember, though, that they insist that the DS is not the Gameboy replacement; does that mean there'll be a new Gameboy soon? We'll have to wait and see...

Is that what they insisted? Huh. I didn't know that. But can you imagine a possibility of Nintendo coming out w/something else? That sounds way too odd to me. Maybe they meant that they would replace it w/a better version? Or maybe not... Oh well, I guess we will have to see. I think the DS should of been like the GBA SP but w/a widescreen touch screen so you could have more room for larger battery. What is the DS's color depth? I thought I read before that it can produce 266,000 colors.
