This must be the first "review" of Windows Mobile 2005 on the net  . Here it is: http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=601

Lots of screenshots.

Mmm, looks nice. I bet the review will get pulled pretty soon, so I'll count myself lucky to have seen it at all.

I like the new features. Hopefully they'll look even better in Landscape.

I'm thinking there's a 10% chance I'll get this for my 4700. We'll see about upgrade policies once the new OS is ready, I hope.

Nice indeed. Nothing for Microsoft to be ashamed of.

Having seen this, what I want to know is "When?". Now that is something Microsoft has reasons to be mum about. In this new age of being assured of no upgrades, device sales are going to screech to a halt as soon as a date is announced. And how low can Dell go to clear out those old X50Vs?

Very good! Its the review I have been waiting for, and also many of the things I've been looking out for has been implemented.

Now I cant wait.

I know this does not really look at Pocket Word (now Word Mobile it would appear) in any depth, but there do not seem to be much in the way of improvements here - pity that is one thing I would really be looking for.

Does anyone know if they have worked out the resource issues yet?!?! I just wish I could use more than two SIP's or Bluetooth without needing to reset my 4705 everytime. It looks like MS is trying with the idea of moving around memory management--did they take the next step?
Is anyone that was bold enough to load this onto their system able to answer this?
Thanks!

Considering the tiny incremental changes over the last two generations, even the small changes now in wm2005 are to shout about.

I have gotton a chance to get the softeare but declined it. I do not want to do anything stupid. I know I will skip something and create a disaster and have a heavy and expensive paper weight. Plus I heard that the Activesync 4.0 Beta barely works and that the Bluetooth is very unstable. This is as far as the ROM RIP that is on the web.

I hope to God that they strung up and fired the person(s) that designed the whole networking subsystem. I absolutely hate how it works, er doesn't work! I have an SX66 with WM2003SE on it and I can't believe how backwards it is to get networking going on it.

I think the problem is that they *TRY* really hard to think for you and assume that you're about as smart as a 6-Pack of Bud so they make it difficult for you to be able to 'mess' with things, so it's completely way too user friendly which turns out to be a huge pain in the ass.

The WIFI 'Zero Configuration' is SUCH a joke, how about naming the ssid the SSID NOT 'Network Name'!

Just let me mess with everything like I can with XP! Is that sooo hard?!?

Yeah, so I'm hoping for the best, but I'm expecting something worse..

Don't get me wrong, I really like my SX66 I just wish things weren't soo dumbed down on the whole thing..

The image of WM 2005 has been around Usenet for a while so I fail to see what the big excitement is all about, perhaps because it is making it rounds now on the rest of the world net.....

...and did I mention it looks as cheap and unrefined as all the previous versions combined?
