It looks like the HTC Blue Angel though. There is no XDA III. The HTC Blue Angel is branded as the O2 XDA IIs, however.

Thanks, I'll correct it above. While O2 has the XDA name, it has become very common to use it as a generic title for these machines, in absense of their HTC code names. While 02 hasn't released it as the XDA III, I've seen it referred to as such. Good point however.

THIS is the device that would get me to switch from my current one. The lack of WiFim while a pain, is not a major loss to me. I have a SD reader I can use to copy files to my device at work. The fact that I am in a EVDO trial area makes it even better.....if Verizion would lower the price.

I surfed to 2Wire.com to check out my bandwidth speed, and was delighted to see that I was connected at over 300Kbps! WOW! I can't wait for BroadbandAccess to be available here in Louisville! Rumor has it that it will be available in late Q2 of 2005. Fingers crossed! With that, who needs WiFi?!

I do. Contrary to EVDO/UMTS/GPRS etc., WiFi is free of charge normally. Some public hotspots do charge you, true, but certainly at home WiFi is free. And I mostly use WiFi at home.

I own the QTEK 9090 since november last year, and before I never would have thought how often I would use WiFi. But, I have to admit, I have become a true WiFi junkie :oops:

I don't know how much you have to pay per MB/kB, but if I would have had to pay for my WiFi datatransfer it probably already would have cost me a small fortune (many MBs per day!).

Since I got my first WiFi pocket pc (back when I had to use a PCMCIA card with my iPaq 3765) I have exclusively used WiFi with my PPC for home surfing. I no longer boot up my laptop at home. I use WiFi at least 1-2 hours a day at home, and it is my favorite bedtime reading. I might consider switching to Verizon for the EVDO, but not if they do not include WiFi.

Contrary to what they say in the review Verizon has a version of the XV6600 with a camera built in. They made one without because some courtrooms make you check your phone a the door if there is a camera in it. The guy at the Verizon store told me they just purchased another 10MHz of bandwidth and are rolling out more broadband spots this year. Its mainly an issue of too many people logging on and using it up that keeps them from adding new high speed coverage.

There is a lot to like about this phone. I can live without WiFi, don't use it much, but understand others depend on it, in which case this would not be a good phone for them.

There is no car kit for the phone, does anyone know of an aftermarket car kit?

I just wish they would hurry up and release the i730. I want to compare these two phones, make up my mind, and buy something already. I've been without a PDA and a good cell phone long enough.

If the i730 ships with WiFi, that may be the deciding factor; but the feel/quality of the keyboards, the external vs internal antenna and the Blackberry support of the i730 are all things I'll have to consider.

Does anyone know if the XV6600 (aka XDA III) can take a backpack (CF expansion pack), like the XDA II and IIi?
