2215- Headphone Jack and Cracking the Case

Headphone jack is causing some problems. Inserting the plug causes loud static and when all the way in only one channel plays. With the device screen up on a table a light push on the plug towards the table activates the dead channel. If I put the plug about half way in it plays both channels at about 70%. Do you think bad socket or bad socket to board connection? I have never been inside an IPAQ. Is it very difficult to open the case and reach the plug? 8O

I would say bad connection between socket and board. I have opened a few ppc's and each has a trick. Still, if you are the least bit queezy, send it in to ppctechs and have them fix it. They usually only charge about $45 for this kind of fix.
