i have a ton of channels in egress and i'm trying to find a way to speed up my update all - i have my channels stored on my card - is that effecting the speed THAT much?

In my experience, no.

I currently use NewsBreak (www.iliumsoft.com) as my RSS reader but I have used Egress as well as PocketRSS in the past. I had Egress's data in the filestore and the other two in RAM. Updates to any of them, with the same set of feeds, essentially all took the same amount of time.

I'd love to know how FeederReader compares to egress in update speed. Have you tried it? I just released the newest version V0.27. The update speed in FeederReader depends *heavily* on the card speed. I would suppose that if there is no difference in egress RAM vs. Flash card, then you have a 32x or higher write-speed card and that egress has reached it's limit in parsing speed. That is what happens in FeederReader as well if the Internet connection and the write-speed are above a certain limit, the parsing speed becomes the limiting factor.

If you are interested in podcasting and videocasting, FeederReader has built-in Enclosure Toolbar and File Management specifically to make dealing with enclosures (podcasts and videocasts) easier. (see http://www.feederreader.com/EnclosureSupport.html and http://www.feederreader.com/MediaWalkthrough.html)
