<i>"Copy television shows recorded on your Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition PC to your Windows Mobile based Pocket PC. MyTV ToGo converts and copies shows right from Media Center, or from any Windows XP machine connected to your Media Center PC through a home network. It's as easy as 1 - select the television shows you want to covert to your Pocket PC; 2 - Connect your Pocket PC to your Media Center Edition PC; 3 - Select Copy TV Shows!"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/logsdon_20050314_mytvtogo.jpg" /><br /><br />Basically, this software converts files recorded in the DVR-MS format to WMV files that will play on your Pocket PC. According to the developer, this program and a 512mb storage card will get you up to 16 half-hour shows using "Good" quality, 12 half-hour shows using "Better" quality, and 8 half-hour shows using "Best" quality. Heck, even "Best" will net you 4 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! So it converts the audio only? :)

You can buy your very own copy for $19.95, (http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&amp;jid=76915DA848F49FE39E7BB4D76B61261A&amp;platformId=2&amp;productType=2&amp;productId=157006&amp;sectionId=0&amp;catalog=30&amp;topSectionId=-1) and there's a free trial available. You can also convert your DVR-MS files to DivX for free, using the DivX codec and <a href=http://www.thegreenbutton.com/downloads.asp>DVR Edit</a>.

Additionally, people with WMP10 on their Pocket PCs get their content converted automatially.

Ok, SmartyPants, I fixed it. Stupid typos...

I'll have to try this. I'm fortunate enought to have a Media Center PC, and an MP10 PPC. I have been taking advantage of the fact my rx3715 and Pocket MP10 will allow MP10 on the desktop to do the conversion. This would be a great asset for those, the majority, that do not have MP10 on the PPC.

Oh I see.. I was going to say Media Center already does this and more, but that's only if you have Media Player 10 on the Pocket PC.

So this is for networks or non WMP10 Pocket PCs I guess.

It also only works if you have your Pocket PC synchronizing with that particular computer. I'm interested in this partially for having my MS-DVR files converted automatically to WMV so I can share them with friends. I'm using dCut now but it's pretty rough around the edges...

True. Another option that I just installed this morning is Orb (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&amp;t=news&amp;id=3072). Now my entire media library including recorded TV shows and Live TV is accessible as streaming Windows Media content through the internet.

Watching live TV on my phone this morning was pretty amazing! Of course, you do need an internet connection, but it works surprisingly well over GPRS.

I have a TV capture card (ATI-in-Wonder) with TiVo (Gemstar Guide) like functions built into the software. For shows I watch only once this is great because it's a one step process...Just click "record" on the listings.

I can make my own recording/encoding filters for different levels of quality via it's configuration wizard. It's real simple stuff. You can save files to mpeg, avi or wmv formats.

No converting, No DRM issues, I just record, save to a storage card and go. I'm working a how-to with snapshots I can submit for news if you want.

I have a MCE2004 machine and a Dell x50v w/ WMP10. When I follow directions to synch TV shows that I've recorded, I don't see any files in the "My TV" directories on the desktop.

What am I doing wrong?!?!?!

Thanks in advance,

papasula

What are you doing wrong? Well, first off, you're assuming that a Microsoft product should actually work! hehe, just a joke.

Sync to PPC should work if you have WMP10 installed on your Pocket PC.

Have you tried using the trial version of MyTV ToGo? Does that fail as well? If so, you could have a problem with you video decoder.

That's the problem. You can't sync files to a PPC using Mce2004. You need WMP10 on your PPC and Mce2005 on your PC.

Bummer.

I just downloaded the trial and it works well for those of us who have WMC2004 and a PDA with WMP10.

Actually, the URL is wrong. It's missing an "x" Try this link:

Nah, that's not true. You don't even need to be running an MCE PC to use MP10 to sync to a PPC. The PPC does need MP10, which the X50v does have.

Is "I don't see any files in the "My TV" directories on the desktop" really what you meant to say? You don't see the recorded TV shoows in the left window in MP10 Sync? Did you look under all video clips? That's where I find my TV recordings. You might also play in the set up sync section, leaving it as manual but maybe you can add the recorded TV to the sync list from there.

I honestly don't recall if I did this with MCE2004, since I've had 2005 for a while, but I can say without a doubt that you can do it without MCE at all. It's a MP10 to MP10 thing. You do need to be able to play dvr-ms on the none MCE machine before it can sync them. That's a codec thing though, which I don't expect you have a problem with on an MCE machine.

Sven, you're not following the original context. The information on the table was a request to sync to a ppc from within Mce. As I said before you cannot sync to ppc from Mce2004. You need Mce2005 ("Sync to device") + WMP10 on your PPC.

Yeah, you can do a lot outside of the Mce shell. That's not the point. We're talking integration into the Mce shell. Like Mce2005+WMP10 or the mytvtogo app.
