These solitaire games drive me nuts  . The real game isn't solitaire, and has nothing to do with matching tiles in a pile. The real game is a bit like gin rummy, with a bit more sophistication (and cards made of tiles). The computer world has all but forgotten what mahjongg really is.

Has anyone seen a PPC version of the traditional 4-player mahjongg game?

Thank you, Drop, for the link. I was wondering the same as ChrisW. My parents used to play Mah Jong every weekend with their friends, and I had no idea how to play it. I have several version of the "Mah Jong" solitaire, both for the desktop and the PPC (Game box Asia by PDA Mills).
I'm eager to learn the rules and play this one

The noise of Mah Jong was a total turn off for me.

My brave boyfriend had tried to explain the complex rules of Mah Jong to me. But I was too impatient to learn.

As long as the developer skipped the banging noise, I think I could play a PPC version.

If anyone does try the non-solitaire Mah Jong, please let me know how you like it.

There was another version available prior to wm2000... that was pretty good. But it was never updated... I don't remember the name of it. 4 winds is pretty good.. but the layout of the other game reflected the actual game better.

The game is rather easy to play... it is just like playing rummy... the biggest difference is how greedy you are. You can score significantly more points by getting better hands... rather than just laying down a small pointed hand. The basic premise is to get 4 sets of 3 card runs (same suit) or 3 card sets (same suit)... and a pair of eyes... (match 2 additional tiles). You play with 13 cards... and the 14th card allows you to complete your hand.

Pretty simple...

exactly, if you go to china and show them this kind of mahjongg, you would be laughed at. true mahjongg is much more interesting and addictive. you can find a good "real" one for WinCE here http://www.aidem.com.tw.
