Can anyone recommend a good BT dongle that works with the Network Access profile on Windows XP SP2 (Home or Pro)? My Belkin F8T001 doesn't support that profile beyond SP1 :(.

To which network access protocol are you referring? the MS SP2 BT stack supports
-Personal Area Networking (PAN). Enables IP connections over Bluetooth, client only.
-Hard Copy Replacement Profile (HCRP). Enables printing
-Human Interface Device (HID). Enables Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and joysticks
-Dial-Up Networking (DUN). Enables Bluetooth mobile phones to work as modems.
-Object Push Profile (OPP). Enables file transfers.
-Virtual COM ports (SPP). Enables legacy programs to communicate with Bluetooth devices.

The radios on which it supports these is at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=841803

Thx for the link. Most of what I've seen indicates that my adapter is supported, it's just the MS stack that's wonky in this case. I may have to try upgrading again soon and leave the Widcomm stack in place, a la this (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=8&TopicId=2103).

I too have the same Belkin adapter. You can switch to the Widcomm stack even if SP2 has been installed before the Widcomm stack is. Belkin could have posted the solution in their FAQ but instead all I can find is a short guide in French, posted on their French support site.

I wrote a short guide myself and posted it here (http://www.geocities.com/grieg_winter/bt/index.html). It's a Geocities site, beware of bandwidth limit.

Thanks! I'll give that a whirl.

Essentially that process worked for me when I needed some profiles that weren't included in SP2. Basically it was the same thing, go to device manager and load the drivers that came with the device.

Better still, follow the instructions on this thread (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=8&TopicId=2200).
