I have a Toshiba e805 running Windows Mobile 2003 and I want to be able to use a mouse connected to the USB cable. Windows Mobile 2003 is said to have the USBHID.DLL file for HID devices; however, when I to connect a mouse (either microsoft or logitech) I have no mouse functionality. Does this require an additional driver? If that is the case, where can I find it?

Toshiba e805
Windows Mobile 2003
USB Host Driver 2.0.0.0
USB Client Driver 1.0.0.0
(does not list a mouse/hid driver)

I don't have a e8x0, so I may be wrong: some people over BrightHand said ( http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99722 ) that you should use the HID driver instead.

Also, there's a topic related to using the USB mouse with the Pocket Loox 720 at http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?t=3061 - it may be worth reading too as it uses the same drivers.

I may be wrong, but if you have WM2003SE installed, I think the HID component is already there as part of the OS.

Hi Mike,

Hopefully you have followed Terry's suggestion and everything is OK now.

If not, bear in mind that there are two aspects to this problem:

1 The PDA needs to respond to the mouse being moved or clicked. The HID driver does this.

2 You the user need to see the mouse pointer to be able to use it. The mpointer application does this.

You can test the HID driver by moving the mouse in the direction of the top of the screen, then to the far left. If you click the mouse left button, the 'Start' menu should display, even though you cannot see a pointer.

Once you have installed DeJe's brilliant application, you can then see the pointer and gain control over the mouse.

HTH,

Bill
