I did a hard reset on my Ipaq 3600 and dont know what I've done, but something doesnt sound right here. I did the HR while pressing both the outer application button, then simulateously pressing and holding the soft reset button. Waited for the screen to go blank then when i released the buttons I got that red sort of Compaq Screen, this is the screen that appears when u do a soft reset. Now it just stays on that screen, and has been on it for the past 15 mins and refuses to boot back into its OS. I've tried to do a softreset to clr things but sorry no luck. Looks like the Ipaq is jammed.

Is this a h3600? and what OS are you running?

Try a couple more hard resets until it clears. If after 5 or so, if it doesn't clear itself, leave it unplugged for a day or so (24-36 hours) or until the battery goes completely dead, which ever comes first; AND then recradle and let it charge. It should boot into the OS at THAT point if nothing else.

If it doesn't, then something's wrong with the device...

Is there a slide door on the bottom to the left? If there is flip the switch under it and leave it that way for about 20 seconds, and then flip it back. This puts in to a storage mode, and cuts the battery power off from the rest of the device. Effectivly "hard booting" it.

The download of the h3600 PDF Manual (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handhelds/us/download/11042.html), look at page 13 and Appendix A. It is not until the h38xx iPAQ series that they started using the two buttons and the soft reset to Reset/HardBoot the device.

Hello everybody many kind thanks for your help. Now re my Ipaq its a H3660,and running Windows mobile PPC 2002, but will check up on that.

I always thought to hard reset the 3600 series was the same way as hard reseting the 38 and 3900 series, seems to be a bit of confusion here. The 3800 and 3900 series doesnt have that door and sliding switch on the bottom left hand corner.

My main PDA that I use is a Ipaq 3970 (love it !!!!). This 3660 I bought before the 3970, so just have it sitting here, and decided to give it a hard reset and re-install some apps on it. Its not my primary PDA, the 3970 is.

Guess what everyone, I finally fixed my problem. I turned off that slider switch on the bottom and left it for 1 min, then turned it back on, and guess what, she fired back up. I am now fully re-charging my unit, as the battery is as dead as a door nail.

G'day from Australia !!!!!

Also good time to verify that you have the latest ROM and updates installed for the your iPAQ(s).
