Foo posted this on his site as well

However, it was not officially announced so its still speculative as far as I can tell.

Why not? palmOne is separated from PalmSource; therefore, they may license other OS'es if they deem it more profitable. Albeit, they are a bit late: they would have made tons of $$$'s in 2003 if they had released the T|3 (a very good PDA with an, at that time, unmatched screen; that device alone made a lot of people turn back to Palm OS - see e.g. http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18888 on this) with a 480*320-capable Pocket PC version. Now, they don't have any decent PDA hardware to build upon - compared to the hx4700, the x50v or the Pocket Loox 720, their current devices (e.g., T|5) pale in comparison.

Well... not that I would complain... because hopefully then there's only one big software pool. There are some applications that they have only for Palm that I'd like too.

But as I said, just wondering. :)

The story may be getting a little skewed. I think that what they have said means that they are very serious about putting out a Treo version built on WM phone edition. I haven't seen anything from them that indicates they are dumping the Palm OS. Why shouldn't they want to diversify their offerings instead of being tied to one OS or the other?
