Help from a networker bod please

Hi,

My friend who sits next to me has an Apple laptop with built in wifi that is plugged into a LAN- can I use the laptop to send out wifi signal so that my M2000 can surf the internet off it?

I've had a look at the WLAN manager, and it says connected to network. But I am still not able to use pocket Internet Explorer or MSN messenger.

The only way I can se that working is if the laptops adapters were bridged. as I don't know anything about Apples though I'll leave it for an apple/pda person to answer the rest.
