I was wondering if there is a program that would allow me to view e-books on my laptop?
Thank You

E-books come in different flavours:
.LIT: http://www.microsoft.com/reader/
iSilo: http://www.isilo.com (my favourite)
http://www.mobipocket.com/en/HomePage/default.asp
http://www.ereader.com/welcome
They are all free of charge, except that the free version of iSilo reader has limited functionality (HTML links don't work, font is fixed) - not a problem for ebooks.
There are other readers, some specialised for lookup of information like http://www.tomeraider.com.
Visit http://www.blackmask.com and http://www.memoware.com for free ebooks. Memoware will also list more reader programs.

the mac version of mobipocket came quite in handy for me when my P900 was being repaired. those were 3 weeks of hardship, balancing the laptop on my belly in bed :)

balancing the laptop on my belly in bed
That must have been a sad, sad sight!

HEY !
Sure, you trying to read, while the screen jumps up and down: your legs get stiff so you have to move them a bit, your girlfriend moves (same result), you cough ..., your back gets stiff ..., the cat crawls up on the keyboard so you can't read, or perhaps even your legs go to sleep so you have to get out of bed to stomp them. Not to mention you now won't get any children unless you adopt them (this is junk science!): http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6777.

well if it's due to the heat, i'm already sterile since i love to take steaming hot showers for 20-30 minutes.
but for all the reasons you mentioned, nothing beats a PDA/smartphone when it comes to ebooks ;)
(actually, my feet really do fall asleep when i'm using a laptop. happens quite frequently when i just want to check something while sitting on the couch and watching tv ... a few minutes and my legs are numb. especially nasty when i need to get up to go to the bathroom or get more drinks ... i HATE those ants)

a few minutes and my legs are numb.
That is normal, unless of course you are younger than 70 years old.

I like uBook from www.gowerpoint.com I use it on my J520, Desktop and Laptop. The user interface is the same for all of them and when moving between them with my books on a CF card it keeps the same bookmarks so I don't loose my place.

that's interesting ... i never thought of using a memory card to read books on various computers. i'm sure mobipocket will keep the same bookmarks as well, since the bookmark file is stored where the ebook is located.
must try sometime !
