I just ordered my new x50v. YEAAAAA!!!!!!

Estimated shipping date: 2/28/05. WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! :grumble:

I was about to order some WriteShields from PPCTechs, which I have on my h2215 and am exceedingly pleased with. But then I got thinking; How is the anti-glare going to affect the much smaller pixels on the VGA screen? The WriteShield I have on my h2215 doesn't really blur the pixels hardly at all, or maybe I'm just not bothered by it, or I've had it on for so long, I've forgotten what it looks like with it off.

Anyway, what screen protector do you have on your x50v and how pleased are you with it. Please specifically address the fuzziness of the pixels from the anti-glare. Or if you don't have anti-glare, please comment on why.

Those with Fellows WriteRights  and similar waste-of-plastic junk screen protectors need not apply!

Congrats!!!!!!!! Ijust got mine about an hour ago. Loving it so far. Alot smaller than I thought it would be. It is my first pocket PC. I am trying to figure out my way around it all and get my home network set up on it. SO far i am finding it a little trying.

Still love it regardless of the internet connection trouble. Well worth it without internet in my book. Plus at home I have two desktop PCs and a laptop next to my chair. Don't really need it for that.

I too am trying to find the best screen protectors. I hear some fit better and some wear out faster.

I havent messed with those yet, but the Rhinoskin case rules... with a few minor issues

the lid should fold completely back
there should be a CF storage slot
my left thumb tends to press the record button when opening the lid

and many people have issues with extended batteries not fitting in

It is my first pocket PC.

Welcome to the incredibly addictive world of PPCs. Pat the dog on the head, give the kids a hug, kiss your spouse goodbye. All they'll see from now on is the top of your head as you crane your neck down with the glare from your PPC lighting up your face.

Well ever since I got my sony Vaio A190 all my girlfriend has seen is the back of the laptop. Doing research on my other new toys.

She'll never realize that our lives and future rely on the techno toys!

I used PocketPC Techs WriteShield since X5 days.

I now have C2 WriteShield (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ws.asp) on my X50v. It is crystal clear, and lasts a long time. I don't expect to replace the one I have on since November until next year even though I use Calligrapher for input. It is my opinion that WriteShield has a better writing surface than the actual glass screen.

I'm not sure I'd want a C2. I like the anti glare of the AG. Does the glare bother you at all?

The site indicates the antiglare ones are not optimal for the VGA screens. I have a crystal clear on mine. I bought a set when I sent the X50v in for RAM upgrade. I had it back a week before I had a chance to put one on. I found one was missing out of the pack I was sent. I had to look real close to see they had already installed one. Had it a week, didn't even know it was there.

I thought that would be a factor since I had anti-glare WriteShield for X5 and liked it very much. When I ordered the WriteShield for X50, the C2 was the only flavor available. I was prepared to use it until the anti glare version came out. But I found the C2 suited me just fine, showing off my VGA screen nicely :D. I don't need the AG version.

I have 'PDA Screen Savers' by Additions on my X50v. I think it's a generic brand but it was all I could find at the time. The installation was a snap and they have decent durability. I haven't noticed any deterioration of screen viewing quality or touch sensitivity. Best of all, at $15 for a 15 pack, they're pretty cheap.

They're cheaper on Amazon (but everything is expensive in Hawaii). http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002ZA9ZO/qid=1108107440/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl107/102-2848068-9207308?v=glance&s=wireless&n=507846

Well, I got my Dell and I ordered the PPCTechs Variety Pack. One C2 and one AG. I tried the AG first and love it. The C2 is more succeptible to fingerprints. The AG doesn't blur the VGA pixels at all. OK there is a subtle "glittering" effect if you look really close, but it's not at all distracting. No worse than on my h2215.

Are the PPC Tech screen protectors scratch proof? Well, I know all screen protectors get scratches after a while but how tough are these ones?

Congrats on receiving your Axim! :D

I ordered the Dell 12 Pack screen protectors together with my X50 last November just to have some sort of protection for my screen and I'm on my 12th screen protector already and it's about done. Scratches everywhere!

What's next? Boxwave? Brando? PPC Techs?

Well, I wanted to find out how tough they are so I tried out my power grinder on my screen. Now it's ruined! 8O Thanks alot dude!

Ok, just kidding. They are fairly tough. I've had one on my h2215 for over a year and I use Graffiti most of the time. I still haven't seen a single scratch. I stand by these things and will recommend them to anyone!

I haven't received my X50v yet (ordered a week ago, ETA 16 March), but I did pick up an EXiM Ultra Clear Screen Protector off eBay.

Can't be any worse than the useless Belkin ones I see in the shops around here. The Belkin ones for the iPAQ 2200 were shockingly bad.

Good to see a fellow Perth-ite here on the forums. ;)

Over the past few days, Dell Australia had an online sale (20% off) on all Axims. You may want to contact Dell to see if you can get it at this discounted price, since you still haven't received it yet.

Thanks :)

I did get the 20% off. I was going to order the week before last, but the special was pretty ordinary (a 64MB CF Card if I recall correctly) so I waited until it expired and they put the next one up. Luck was on my side and I got the 20% off as soon as it appeared :)

Now the long wait until it's delivered ...
