Hello PPC Fans!

Is it possible to zoom by specifying any % from eg. 100-500% or only a few zoom levels ?
Is there a free powerpoint viewer for PPC?
Are there magnifying glass like accessories for 4" PPCs?

Pls share with me your experiences!

I have never seen a free one.

All the PPT viewers are made to output slides to a projector (and of course to refresh your memory before a show) via a SVGA interface card.

I use ClearVue (http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/) with a CF-card from Presenter-to-go to project my lecture slides. ClearVue works very well, though with a few quirks that are easy to work around.

The software coming with Presenter-to-go is OK, but the ClearVue program can show native PPT slides (no slow conversion and no HUGE files taking up space on your on your PC). ClearVue was the fastest program when I bought it (important as you don't want to wait longer than absolutely necessary before the next slide) but that is years ago.

Go and try them all!

Well, maybe, but Pocket Slides is as full featured a Powerpoint/Presentation package, as Textmaker is a word processor and PlanMaker is a spreadsheet for $50 each.

If you only need to view .ppt files, not edit, or create, then Westtek Clearvue Presentation will do the job. Note that this is the only product I know of that actually views .ppt files. The other options out there require translation to their own file format using a PC. Pocket Slides will translate back to .ppt from the PPC to the PC, if you create or edit on the PPC.

Neither of the two products mentioned have continuously variable zoom. ClearVue has more increments.

All other programs other than ClearVue and Presenter-to-go's own software used to be either very slow and/or (s-l-o-w-l-y) create very bulky files for the PPC (some in JPG as far as I remember). Is that still the case?

I can say no for Pocket Slides. Their .cpt format is smaller than the equivalent .ppt, and you have conversion options that can scale the transformation to be optimum for the intended use. It certainly isn't anything like a jpg, as it allows full editing capability of objects, text, etc., which you wouldn't get with a bitmapped format.

There are trial versions. Give them a test drive.
