First apps for keeping a well running PPC????

I am soon to be getting my first PPC. I am really excited about it all and am reading all I can now before it gets here so I can be ready to use it.

I actually already read the entire manual for the thing!

I ma just curios as to some good programs that are somewhat of a need for keeping the machine working in top notch fashion.

It's going to be more of a toy for me than anything but I would like to know the essentials in you opinions.
