View Full Version : Active Sync doesn't recognize Outlook 2003???

Oh man. There I made another huge mistake. I subscribed with Outlook Live and downloaded a brand spankin' new copy of Outlook 2003. Now it won't sync with my pocket pc anymore. I get an error message, telling me that Outlook is NOT installed on my computer and that I cannot sync my contacts and appointments.
This is extra strange since I have it installed on my office computer as well, and it does work flawlessly.

Then I read that for support, I have two (2) free phone calls, everything else is $ 35 per call. I already started to hate it. 8O

Is there anyone here that can help me out? I uninstalled Outlook and I am currently in the process of re-installing it.

Thanks in advance.

K.

ActiveSync works fine with Outlook 2003 on both of my PCs.

If the reinstall doesn't work, try reinstalling/upgrading to the latest version of ActiveSync.

... I feel at least somewhat better knowing that someone else is having this exact same issue!

I found this information though ... looks like they know about this error. What I did not find -- anywhere -- is word on a fix for this error.

Note that this is only referring to Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager. The latter is a special add-on to Outlook that is only used in certain specific circles.

Outlook 2003, by itself, most definitely works with ActiveSync. I use it every day.

The latter is a special add-on to Outlook that is only used in certain specific circles.

And my company fits into that certain specific circle. It is not only the expectation, but the requirement that we use BCM on a daily basis.

This is a new development, as my company just switched over to Outlook in late December 2004. I was totally unprepared for this, as we were using a separate Goldmine-like database prior to the switch.
