I had my choice of the axim x50v or the x30 but now they lowered the price of the x30 with the pharohs GPS system included by 80 dollars! Now I am torn.
I see the only main difference as the VGA and the styling. Oh and the ROM. I might be reading the descriptions wrong but the GPS seems to be a big plus for the x30>....
Am I wrong in thinking this?

My advice - just do it! That sounds like a great deal (the x30 w/GPS). I was recently in the same place, watching the Dell deals for months trying to know when to jump in. Finally, I just placed the damn order!

Also, try watching these deal sites if you aren't already:

GPS is a funny thing - you think you'll really use it and it'll be great - then you get it and find you don't use it as often as you thought.

My advice: If you are daily driving to unknown areas (I make a 120 mile round trip daily, however I know the route like the back of my hand), then get the GPS. If not, go for the VGA.

That being said, I love my pharos GPS, just don't use it that often. I think the pharos product gets a little less attention than it should - I think its some of the best GPS software / hardware I've used. So if you think you'll use the GPS often enough (or are interested in possibly going into geocaching or other recreation where GPS would be helpful) then go with it as well.

:devilboy: Don't forget... It's easyer to put a GPS on X50v then a VGA screen on a X30... :devilboy:

Thanks guys.....

MROX you sold me on moving my feet instead of my mouth. I ordered the x50v and then added the pharos GPS from the dell site.

I really do not think I will use it that often although me and my girlfriend like to just pack up the car and start driving and we often find ourselves in other states and unsure of where we are heading.

Plus I love having all the bells and whistles. I just wish I could get the Loox.

Who says you can't get a Loox..???

I assume you are in the US...???

Not as cheap as the Dell but comparable to the Hx4700 and the Asus a730W...

Well thanks for the info Ripper!

I might have to call Dell and put a hold on that order. I hope they will do that instead of having me go through the hassle of shipping it back.

I was under the impression that the Loox wasn't available in the US.

Why I don't know but from other posts I thought it was out of the running. I really like the look and the reviews of it I have read seem to be pretty darn good!

Now I got another week of research!
At this rate I'll get my PDA about the same time Teleportation becomes the number one form of public transportation!

Now another problem...are there any issues with the loox that would make it difficult or more of a pain to use here in the U.S.?

How does it compare against the x50v?

The guys at Dell are going to kill! I ordered then cancelled and thought a bout the loox. Now I am back at dell. I called instead of ordering online and talked to a salesrep. I asked for a deal on the thing. I actually wanted streets and trips 2005 thrown in but they said it couldn't be done that way but they could give me second day air for free and reduce the price of my total by 21.00 making the price of streets basically 20 instead of sixty. I told them its a deal. Although I did have to ask for a sales manager or someone who could authorize a better price. The sales person was a bit upset at the request and thought I was being a real jerk but hey 40 bucks is 40 bucks!

Thanks jeff. It will be here today sometime and I will be in engaging ins some one one one gadget love!! LOL! I always throw myself into any new gadget i get.
I spend day and night to know it as well as one could in a short time, just so I can look like i know what I am doing when I am out and about with it.

I always love shortcuts to do tasks too. My motto is "save keystrokes whenever possible you'll never be short on time"
