Are you sure that you are trying to install a version intended for a PocketPC?

That's not the version for Pocket PC, that's the version for Windows CE (there's a difference; Pocket PC is based off of Windows CE 4.x now, but it's not the same OS). The version for Pocket PC is here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4615AFAC-936C-40F0-B557-9F4C2DDC3318&displaylang=en). but you may already have that version.

Your device should already HAVE Windows Media Player, why are you trying to upgrade?

That's only a (very minor, nowhere as good as the version 8.5) upgrade to an already-installed WMP8. The latter can't be downloaded from Microsoft.

Your device should already HAVE Windows Media Player, why are you trying to upgrade?

It's a 16M ROM device, so WMP 8.0 comes on the CD ( http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/hp1910-review.html ), not pre-installed on the 1910.

Are you sure it's 7.1? The link you gave us is not a valid one (you may have copied it from inside another phpBB forum, which collapses the internal part of the visible URL in order to make them fit into the page), so I couldn't check whether it's really 7.1.

The WMP 7 series is meant for PPC2k devices, and NOT PPC2k2 devices. WMP8 is meant for the latter. The former lacks a lot of things WMP8 already has, e.g. streaming.
