I started working UnLoGiC Movie Converter wich is a frontend for VirtualDubMod about 1,5 month ago. I've focused on using profiles and batch encoding since i got rather fed up with adding one file at time in VirutalDubMod and PocketDivxEncoder.

If you are intrested have a look here:

Right now there is only profiles for Palm's in UMC but it's very easy to create your own profiles. If you feel that you've made a good profile for a device thats isn't in UMC please upload it to the profile database on the UMC homepage.

I'm only on the third version but i think I've nailed down most of the bugs so far. I should be able to release atleast one version per week during coming month, adding new functions in each version. DVD support should also improve some during the coming weeks (although it's pretty good as it is).

Ps. any feedback is very welcome!

Looks great, but what would a pocketpc user have to gain using this over pocketdivx encoder?

If you create a profile thats suits your device you never have to mess with the settings again. And you can then use batch mode and convert multiple files using the same profile. Instead of having to add one file at time as in Vdub or Pocketdivx encoder. (I know you can save your settings in pocketdivx encoder but you have to load them manually for each file... )

Here's a screenshot:

It also has a function that automaticly resizes the video to fit on your PDA screen while maintaining the correct aspect ratio (I dont belive pocketdivx encoder does this). You just set the resolution of your PDA screen and enable the "Auto resize..." option and UMC will automaticly calculate the correct size for your screen while the maintaining aspect of the input video!

Since it uses VirtualDubMod to encode the videos, any availble plugin or filter for VirtualDubMod would be very easy to implement in UMC.

Not to mention it has VOB support (encode DVD's).

Give it a try and tell me what you think about it

Ps. The reason why I wrote this program in the first place was due my frustration over VirtualDubMod and PocketDivx encoder...

Version 1.0.3 is out:

New features:
You can now pause the encoding between the passes.
You can now abort the encoding process.
You now see a UMC progressbar while encoding and VirtualDubMod starts minimized
VirtualDubMod now runs at a lower priority wich makes your computer less "sluggish" during the encoding process.
VirtualDubMod no longer shows the input and output video which speeds up the encoding a few percent.
New option that lets you manually input file resolution if UMC fails to detect it.

Bugs fixed:
Bug when you clicked new profile and then selected cancel
Bug when deleteing profiles
Bug where UMC would get stuck at "Loading file details..." screen
Bug that would crash umc if you pressed remove on the encoding tab with an empty list of files to be encoded.
Bug that occured when you pressed cancel when adding files multiple times to the list of files to be encoded.
No statfile found error corrected in all default profiles.

And I'm sure I've forgotten to write down some changes too...
