I am looking into getting an axim but unsure of the better choice.
Either the X50v or the 30 with GPS.
Are there any good places to look at reviews without the smart remarks and joking banter?
I need for mostly internet browsing and PDA function but not that much of the office apps and data transfers.
I really need it like a planner and a time killer!

You'll find that besides the hardware differences all Pocket PCs are pretty much the same. If you think you need more memory or a high-res screen then head that route, otherwise just buy what you can afford.
We have reviews of both the X50 (non-VGA version) and the X30 here at Pocket PC Thoughts. If you're looking for other reviews a google search for "dell X50v review" (or the like) will return several.

Either the X50v or the 30 with GPS.
Is that either the X50v or the X30-with-GPS (budget ceiling)
or
either the X50v or X30 and you want to use GPS with whichever you buy? (GPS is important)

I am not sure how much I will use the GPS but I would like having instead of realizing I want it and then having to go buy it.
The X30 can come with the GPS for around 600 and now they have the X50v for 420.
I like the looks of the x50v but think the 30 has gps already there and could be a huge plus!
I am new to Pocket PC's and am not too sure of what i really am going to need.
Basically I just want opinions of which would be more useful.
Is GPS a big plus with PPC?

The X30 does not have GPS in it. It is bundled with a GPS. If you are willing to spend $600 on an X-30/GPS bundle, you can get a an X50v for $420 and have $180 left to buy a GPS. You can easily get a wired solution for that, with good mapping software, or even consider the DeLorme Blue Logger with Street Atlas Handheld ( http://www.delorme.com/bluelogger/order.asp ) for $150.
With the X50v you get additional ROM, VGA and a CF slot (on top of the SD slot). If money is not the issue here, I'd go with the newer nicer looking one, with more features.
