View Full Version : Deciding between an iPAQ 4705 and an iPAQ 2755

I have the option of getting either a 4705 or a 2755 next week with a return of a sick iPAQ 2215. I'd like any feedback current users of either of these devices can provide before I decide.

I had a chance to check out both devices in person, and I really liked the 2755 - it was nice and slender, felt really fast in my hand, and I liked the screen cover a lot!

Get the version below the 2755. Save some money, and get better battery time.

Jimmy, is VGA a must for you?

I haven't been able to see the 2755 in person. I am under the impression that it is roughly the size of my 2215. Is that about right?

It's not a "must have" for me, but oh! that screen is beautiful on the 4705. I read a lot of ebooks so I would think that it would be great for that. I am only concerned about the size being a bit big. I am going today to look at one and compare it to the sizes of my 2215 and V37.

The money isn't really an issue as I am trading in a sick 2215 that I got when I traded in my dead Toshiba e740. So my credit is the original price of the e740 which is $570 (US). I love my 3 year replacement warranty. :ppclove:

As for the battery life, is the 2415 that much better than the 2755? They have the same battery. Also, the 2755 a lot more memory than the 2415 (192MB vs 70MB) and a faster processor.

I think it's still a run-off between the 4705 and 2755.

From memory...it felt a little taller, but thinner.

Being the proud owner of a 4700 I would say that you should go with the 2755 for multiple reason number one of which is the RAM. I find myself looking at the fact that I will be sending my 4700 to PPCtechs in the near future for a ram upgrade. :?

128 M vs. 64 M. That's a good point. I am constantly struggling with memory issues, especially now that I'm using WebIS Mail. The scales are tilting...

OK. Thanks to all. I have made my decision, said goodbye to my 2215 :(, and have placed my order for (drumroll please) a new 2755 :).

The deciding factors were mainly size (not much bigger than my 2215 was) and the 128MB of RAM. I really liked the 4705 screen, but in the end being able to put it in my shirt pocket won out.

Again, thanks to all who voiced their opinions.

I think you made a great choice - let us know how you like it! Or, heck, if you want to review it. ;-)

Hadn't thought of that. I hope I would be able to give it a positive review. If not I'm blaming all four of you.

Everyone can rest easy. I love it, so you're all off the hook.

Darius, you can quit looking over your shoulder.

Personally given the 2 choices I would have picked the 2755 myself as well. I however will stick with my 2215 until WM2005 gets released and then I will find a product with most of the 2755's qualities. I like the memory, all integrated wireless, and both slots what I don't like is the fact that HP is not offering upgrade paths for any of its current devices OS'es.

I gave up my 2215 for the 4700 mostly because I needed it to fix a problem in my software. Now that I've had the VGA screen, there's no going back for me. It still fits in my shirt and pants pockets comfortably and since I install everything to my file store or my sd card, I have no memory problems whatsoever.

Though, now that the 2275 is out, I may have gone with that just for the 128MB memory. So, you made a good choice.
