Anyone know if this will run on a Win 98SE PC?
I select a vob file to encode and it seems to just stop. I can't tell if it's doing anything.
Any ideas?

IIRC, it isn't meant to work with VOB files. You need another encoding application to work on the VOBs. PocketDivXEncoder only manipulates already-encoded video files.

In another thread, this application was suggested as a free alternative to some of the DVD-to-PDA applications.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. or what's missing?

It's a free alternative in that you can work with pre-encoded files. Using XMPEG (which is also free), you can effectively do DVD to AVI conversion, and then using PocketDivXEncoder, you can perform PDA-optimisations of the AVI files.

Actually, I think your problem is Windows 98SE doesn't support file sizes over 4Gb.
I use Pocket DivX Encoder 0.3.5 and DVD Decrypter on WinXP Pro, and it is soooooo easy.
I use DVD Decrypter to make the DVD (the movie only) into a single file on my HDD. I then open it is PocketDivXEncoder, set my settings to 6 for video and 5 for audio, and I get a decent movie for my Pocket PC. Takes up about 250Mb per movie. Takes total of 1.5Hrs for a 2hr movie.
Works great for converting other files too (MPEG and AVI). The best video converter. Supports converting to Xvid as well.
