PPC 2002 Pocket Internet Explorer Image Quality

I use an Ipaq 3970 running PPC 2002 which enables me to view JPEGs via either the supplied Ipaq Image Viewer or Pocket Internet Explorer.

Even if I view an image which requires no resizing before display, the image quality in PIE is very poor whereas the IIV image is excellent.

Are there any settings to improve image quality in PIE ?
