Capture Pocket PC's screen (still image or movie) on Desktop PC

I want to capture Pocket PC's screen (still image or movie) on Desktop PC so that I can send the still images or movies to my friends to tell them what EXACTLY it was showing on my Pocket PC.

Which software is the best to do that?

Thanks.

To make photos / videos, Pocket Controller Professional / Enterprise is prolly the best tool ; use Ctrl-S and /or D for screenshots and Tools/ Videos for videos. No external tools are required.

If you don't want to pay for Pocket Controller, you can also use the free (!) ActiveSync Remote Display, part of Microsoft's PowerToys ( http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/6/0/7606be4b-eea7-4515-83a0-81d7d9ac9ce1/WindowsMobilePowerToys.msi ). To enable its VGA support, see
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=322219#322219 . With it, you'll need to use an external image/video capturer tool. I recommend SnagIT for this task because it's highly configurable, even at shooting videos.

Go to:

www.cetoolbox.com

and download Pocket Screen Capture. It's Freeware.

I use either the built-in screencapture option, or PocketArtist. Either way works out fine for me. :)

What is "built-in screencapture option"?

PocketArtist

It's a bit pricey for simple screenshots IMHO :) Free solutions like the above-mentioned Pocket Screen Capture can be better. And, it's pretty complicated to capture with Pocket Artist because it can't directly save into file, only to the clipboard. So, you'll have another step manually putting it into a drawing program and saving it.

If you really need a PPC-based solution (and not a desktop-based), go with either Pocket Screen Capture (if you don't want to capture VGA screens - it's useless in VGA), or, with the following programs (there're quite a few other apps as well; I've only tested the screen capturer functionality / VGA-compliance of "larger" apps, also offering image displaying/editing capabilities):

PQV 3.0: comes even with a separate screen capturer utility, assignable to a HW button. QVGA only - non-VGA - compliant!

XnView 1.20 (free!!): settable delay and file format, VGA - compliant

Resco Picture Viewer 5.x: now/10s later, VGA - compliant

CEPicture 2.7: button-assignable capture; QVGA in QVGA; VGA in forced VGA

PictPocket Cinema 4.0: no separate capturer app; VGA - compliant

For simple screen captures over an ActiveSync connection, you can't go past GetPDAScreen. (http://www.newmad.se/software.asp) Simply put - it's awesome. ;)

That's not bad either. I hpe the VGA-compliant version will come soon.
