Very happy wifi experience
With the purchased of my first wifi device - Ipaq4150, I bought for it a wireless router 2 days ago. Since then I was exploring all the things I can do with the wifi network. Up to now I can use it for the below tasks:
Use my 4150 to listen to radio station real time broadcast or archived broadcast, while I am laying on my bed, which is in another room from my computer room.
Update contacts/appointmens/tasks on the 4150 and immediately activesync them with my desktop PC.
Use my 4150 to play the stream of video/audio files which are stored in my desktop PC. Man, watching those movies while I am in the MOST strange locations (e.g. bed, bathroom, kitchen, you can imagine) just makes me feel "man I am SO techie"
What else I can do with this 4150+wifi+desktop combo? What about your wifi experience? Let's share them!

Good to hear you've had good experiences with WiFi.
When I didn't have a laptop, (this summer) I would take my Pocket PC outside with me, sit outside, and surf the net. Of course I can't do that now, because I'd get frostbite. I also streamed video off of the Internet. Without WiFi, my Pocket PC wouldn't be as fun to use, but because it has WiFi, it's a really good tool, and toy. :D

What else I can do
Download and read a free book? Go to for example http://www.blackmask.com and download a free book. Unfortunately Blackmask is not formatted for PDA's.

One other cool thing to do is to use Resco File Explorer to set up an ftp session with your webspace.
Give it a shot.

I am glad you are successful.
So far I have been unsuccessful in setting up an Adhoc connection with my desktop. :(
Does anyone have any links to a fool(me) proof tutorial

Unless you don't have a wireless router and using your desktop PC as the Access Point, I don't know why you want to set up a ad-hoc connection between pocket pc and desktop pc.
Wirelress router is worth the money, I suggest you buy one.

I love how convenient it is to sync my Avantgo content wirelessly. Takes less than 2 minutes. Seems quicker that a docked sync. But when rushing to catch the bus in the morning, not having to turn on my PC to sync is a huge advantage.
How do you do this? I would love to give it a try.

I've been experimenting with windows media encoder and a tv capture card. It is really easy to stream live tv...and watch it on the hx4700 :)

I use my PDA's wifi access at home to get to recipes on my downstairs PC while I'm cooking up a storm upstairs!

before i got the PPC-6600 from Sprint, which allows internet from anywhere, i used to use my Toshiba and WiFi to fix problems at my work while i wasnt at work!
Once I was at Pizza Hut and they called that a Print Service had failed so normally I would log on to the 2003 server and restart the service. This isnt so easy while away from a Wifi connection. I had two choices, Drive all the way back to work and fix it; Drive all the way home and connect via the VPN and fix it. Either direction it was going to take me a good while to get there, unacceptable. So i created a third option.
We have a girl that works from home whom has a Wireless network in her home. When i was there last I authenticated my Toshiba on the network just incase i would need to use the Wireless one day. Well, that day had finally arrived. Her home was a hop from Pizza Hut. I finished my pizza, drove down the street and parked outside her house. Made a connection, logged on to www.logmein.com and accessed my workstation in my office. From there I accessed the Server and started the service. VOILA!! Way cool. Did the same thing once from an Ice Cream joint. hehe..
I never could figure out the VPN stuff with the Toshiba but Logmein.com is free and works like a charm!
I love technology.
