Latest TomeRaider Wikipedia buggy?

I just downloaded the lates enormous Wikipedia encyclopedia file
TR2_WP_EN_(P)PC.tr (511MB) from
http://download.wikimedia.org/tomeraider/current/
and ran it on my PC desktop in TomeRaider 2.8. It's behaving very strangely.

As an arbitrary test I entered 'King' AND 'George', left 'Match whole words only' checked, and also checked 'Search within subjects only'. On clicking Go, the first hit was OK. But clicking F3 to get the next one gave me an obviously invalid subject 'RR'! Then I got 'R'. Then 'RR' again. Then 'RR' repeatedly.

I ran exactly the same search in my previous version of that encyclopedia WP_EN_(P)PC.tr (183MB). I got 8 correct hits, and no invalid ones. So I assume the latest 511MB file is faulty? Or my (lengthy!) download of it was flawed some way. Anyone else with any experience of this please?

Can't speak for the TR2 file.

However have just done your search on the TR3 Wikipedia on the ppc version of TR3 and it behaves as it should.

Maybe it's time for an upgrade?

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm going to bite the bullet and re-download and will report back if that fixes it.

I'd be very interested in hearing a little more about TR3. Admittedly I wasn't concentrating, and found the site a bit patchy, but I got the impression that it wasn't 'fully ready' until later this year? Something about not handling images?

BTW, have you dedicated a CF or SD card to the Wikipedia?

TR3 has been out since Oct/Nov last year - I got a good deal on an upgrade price from Proporta. Not many TR3 "books" out there but it's easy enough to convert TR2 Files into TR3. TR3 seems much faster and more user-friendly.

It does handle images & well - I have the CIA world Fact Book with maps & flags & it's very impressive - even supporting zooming.

Re Wikipedia - TR3 is 508 Megs which I store on a 1 Gig SD card - leaving lots of room for other "stuff" The version with images (which is not ready yet) will be about 1.5 Gb - I don't even think they make 2 Gb SD cards yet...

Thanks for that informative follow-up. I'll get TR3 soon then.

My music is on 1GB CF card, so I can either sacrifice half of that to Wikipedia or buy another and swap it when I need to. I'm sure 2GB *CF* cards are around, but my 1GB was expensive enough...
