Ive tried installing the pocket pc version from macromedia. It seems to install right but i can never open a .swf file or open flash viewer as a regular progam.

Is it only avalible thru to play through interent explorer or just have it installed wrong?

Yeah, it only works via Pocket Internet Explorer. You can get tools to have them play outside PIE though:

PFlashP (http://www.pc-counselor.com/pflashp.htm) offers some customisation for playback. Give that a go as well. :)

So we can't play them straight from the .swf files? We have to get third party apps in addition to the official 'Macromedia Flash Player for PocketPC'?

IMHO, that's a bit dumb. What is the point of the flash player then?

Anyway, can someone introduce me to a stand-alone flash player that is preferably free? I know two have already been kicked about in this thread, but both of them are pay applications.

Thanks!

Try Bryht Flash Player at http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=12406

While it isn't free, I believe the only limitation to the trial is that you can't watch the movie in full screen for more than a minute. Not sure about this though.

BTW, does anyone know if Macromedia Flash Player 6 is compatible with WM5? I tried a few application that requires this plugin and they just exit when I tried to open them.
