View Full Version : I don't like the HP 4700
4700 tottaly sux

You're right NLS, please don't get started.
Guys, this is not a PDA slamming match. I like a lot of aspects of the 4700 myself, though it's not the PDA for me - at the moment. I can understand why folks like it though.
:)
We're not here to prove we have the 'best' Pocket PC. There is no such thing. There is a machine that may be the best for your needs for a certain time for a certain task for a certain task. Now, lets get back on topic shall we?
HP has indeed messed up big time, but they can recover. It ain't personal - it's business. Any Pocket PC manufacturer can stumble, just as they can recover. Lets hope HP do. They used to make really good PPC and I would like to see them stepping up to the plate with great machines and great prices with great service. It could yet hapen......
what you mean back up? take back?
sorry not taking back any of what I said (in fact it's just a tiny bit of my opinion about Compaq/HP and almost all its devices from the time of 3600 and on)
the best I can do is not to post further in this thread - which is fine by me
the whole device was a showstopper for me :)
it sux
its RAM tottaly sux
its size sux
its weight sux
its company sux hard and deep
its features are crippled or missing (uneeded for this market says Big Mother)
its speed sux (for the CPU MHz)
its company support after warranty does not suck because it's null (what's to suck)
for the "lucky" people that chose HP once more (once more a device that sux) good luck, see you in a few months whinning in some forum about your device
sorry guys
you know what makes me like that more than anything else?
seeing how EASILY (and repeatedly) people fall for Marketing 101
it shouldn't bother me personally (as I DO COMPARE - be it PDA, motorcycle, house, whatever - before I buy) , but it nevertheless does (I mean I find it stupid some times)
what I see with HP and its PDA business, is a nice clarification of (Greek?) saying "sh*t and cork float" and since I in fact expected that the market WOULD kill this HP dept. (the market has killed PDA depts. of other companies for lesser excuses), I see them "strong" and still defining what they want us to believe as "top" (and with the appropriate journalist support), whereas they are not even CLOSE (and A STUPIDLY EASY comparison could enlighten MANY consumers those last 4 years)
anyway... if criticising bothers you (even in the correct thread), fair enough (and I reserve the right to believe in sheep concumers)

Sorry, sometimes I forget that American slang may not translate well to other cultures. I'm not suggesting that you take back your opinion. Only that you try stating it in a non-inflammatory manner. Maybe it's just me, but you seem to be attacking other peoples devices, which is certain to start a flame war. Judging from a couple of your subsequent posts, it's apparent that you just don't get it.
Secondly, just because they are disappointed with the sales of some models it doesn't mean that demand has been "minimal". Disappointment and minimal are not mutually inclusive terms. For all we know, it could be just a matter of HP having high expectations.
I didn't mean to imply (and I'm not so sure that I did) that disappointment and minimal were mutually exclusive. You're right, it's too early to tell what is cauusing HP's disappointment, but speculating is part of the fun of this site  . My guess is that HP's disappointment is caused by tepid demand. I don't think the enterprise market has come anywhere near what they expected for these devices, and consumer demand has been limited as well. I predict big discounts for these devices in the not-to-distant future. Obviously you have those technical types who need the extra power offered by the new devices. You also have some people who actually prefer a device with a little heft to it. Then you have those who have fallen in love with VGA and are willing to accept a few comprimises to get it. I just think MOST people would prefer maximum functionality and minimum size in a POCKET PC. HP has created the almost perfect form factor for those people with the 1940/4150. For some strange reason they decided to run away from that award-winning design as though they had some sort of contagious disease. I think their "disappointment" is the price they are paying for such a strategy.
