Assuming I have ADSL (which I do) and a wireless network (not yet), could I somehow use my PPC to connect to the internet through the ADSL connection through Bluetooth or somesuch? I did search the forum for an answer but couldn't find an answer specific to my question.
Thank you very much for your time.

If you have a PC with any kind of internet connection you can use it with your pocket pc using Activsync (the syncing software that comes with the pocket pc).
You can achieve this by enabling an option under Activsync called "pass through" (You will find this under the Tools, Options, Rules menu). This allows a connected ppc to use the pc's internet connection.
While this is commonly achieved when the ppc is in its cradle one of the easiest ways of doing this wirelessly is by using bluetooth. Obviously you will need a pocket pc with bluetooth - preferably built in although you can buy addon adaptors - and a pc with either bluetooth built in or a bluetooth adaptor (relatively cheap add on for a pc nowadays).
Assuming you have this all you need to do is to set up a partnership between the two devices and set activesync to connect using your bluetooth port - this may sound difficult but is really easy and should take no more than 5 or 10 minutes set up time.
Performance can vary depending on the type of PPC and the bluetooth adaptor on your pc but I have had no problem using bluetooth to browse my pcs internet connection from almost every room in my house.
Alternatively if you have a wirless 802.11b router connected to your adsl modem you can connect a wi-fi enabled pocket pc directly. This again is fairly easy to do but tends to be more expensive.
Hope this helps

In addition, you'll find that most Pocket PCs have a limited ~10m BT range, so purchasing a 100m BT USB dongle for your PC won't help as such. Aside from a BT ActiveSync connection, you can also establish a BT network connection so you can share your internet connection that way as well. Otherwise, there's always Wi-Fi if your Pocket PC has it.
