Zuma features colourful graphics that reflect the ancient South American civilizations and is accompanied by a panpipe music soundtrack and chanted sound effects to give a Zumaic flavour. Match sets of three or more coloured balls by firing them from the mouth of the mythical stone frog toward the advancing line of balls. Seek out the bonus balls which cause explosions, line reversal, and slow-downs to help you achieve Zuma and complete the levels."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20050108-Zuma.gif" /><br /><br />Zuma is the latest offering by Astraware and is also compatible with VGA devices. Those of you who love this type of game will probably want to head over to <a href="http://www.astraware.com/ppc/default/zuma/">Astraware</a> where you can download the trial version or purchase the full version for $19.95.

FYI... despite AstraWare's "VGA Compatible" tag, this game is NOT NOT NOT in VGA. Same old 320x240 graphics.

I was about to say that. It IS WM2003SE compatible, and works fine on my 4700, but is definitely QVGA. Still, it's quite fun.

So, has anyone tried it and would care to tell how it compares to the PC version? I love the PC version and would like this on the PPC if its the same or better, but if they had to cut out stuff to make it play nice on the PPC then I'll wait.

Having a blast with Bejeweled 2 at the present time.

My girlfriend is a beta tested for PopCap, so I was playing Zuma for a few months before its public release: quite fun. The PPC version seems to be a reat translation from its original format. I will admit, it's a bit easier since you just click where you want the ball to go; no more aiming and eyeballing where you think it'll go. That means I"ve managed to improve my scores significantly. I haven't purchased the full version yet, and I whip through the demo in mere minutes, but it's a great port of the regular play of Zuma.

I was kind of thinking the same thing... this looks exactly like Podz, which I already registered.

Does this game offer anything that Podz doesn't?

They're both based on the same "style" of game. I'd just install the trial versions of both, and see which one you end up liking after a few hours of solid gameplay.

Well, like I said, I already registered Podz, so unless someone says this game is dramatically better or different, I'm not all that inclined to "trial" it.

So are there any games in VGA? Using 480x640 or 640x480 resolution.

Bejewelled 2 and Acky's XP Breakout are the only VGA games I've encountered. The former is an absolute joy, ages above the original Bejewelled.

I know how it feels, I got stuck there too, but I was eventually able to pass it after a few tries. (I think I have too much free time...) I got stuck a few times before, but I think that luck has a lot to do with when you win, and when you don't. It's random how the balls will come, so you can be lucky, and they will come in a combo... :D Keep trying!!!
