Hi, I would just like to know if anyone here encountered this prob. I own an ipaq 1940 running 2003 OS. After installing Flashdash, whenever i soft reset an error message will popup saying "cannot find applist.exe or one of it's component....". Although i'm not experiencing any problem aside from the annoying error message everytime i soft reset. I've already uninstalled Flashdash but still the same. Any tips on how i could get around this? thanks in advance.

Thread title fixed by DW.

Just out of interest, did you install Flashdash on a storage card or in RAM?

Interesting. Well, I don't want you messing with the registry just yet. So try this first: install Flashdash again, give it a soft-reset. Does the message appear? If so, let me know. If not, proceed to uninstall the application using the Remove Programs applet in Settings, and then soft-reset your device. See if the message still appears.

Go to Start > Settings > Today > Items, and see if there are any Flashdash entries there.

If not, download PHM Registry Editor (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/) and install it on your device. Note that if you're not comfortable with peering into your registry, I'd stop now. Otherwise, once you've installed the program, open it and tap Tools > Find, and tick the Keys, Valyes, Data boxes and search for applink.exe.

For each entry that appears, note its path: it will appear in a format such as \HKLM\etc\etc\etc. Then list them here. :)

after running registry editor and searching for applist, 9 entries found pointing to a single path -> \HKCU\Software\DTSysViewPro

Now i remember that the error message appeared after i removed DTSysViewPro, which i did after i installing FLashDAsh.

What do i do next?

Try installing DTSysView Pro and then doing the whole soft-reset routine to see if the message still appears. Then proceed to uninstall it using the Remove Programs applet, and then soft-reset your device. If the problem is reproduced, then let me know and we'll have a closer look at the registry entries you found. ;)

Great! I installed DTSViewPro again, the soft reset error message is gone! I think i'll keep DTS in the mean time. Thanks Darius. You're an angel!
