Does anyone know of a program which can be used to chat between two bluetooth enabled Pocket PCs? Preferrably a free or low cost option?

Thanks in advance.

Yup. No surprise - it's called Bluetooth Chat. (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=11818) ;)

It appears that the Bluetooth Chat (beta) 0.5 version expired on 12/31/03. Is there a later version which is still active?

If that doesn't work, try ProximityMail. (http://www.inventop.com/) Here's (http://www.inventop.com/what.html) further information on the product.

Great, this is just what i was looking for. Thanks Darius!

However, it seems that i've only won half the battle... the battle of the bluetooth chat.

It seemed silly but lost in my pocket pc world i totally forgot that to chat with non PPC people (phones with BT in them) they would also need something similar.... so now i'm sitting here with no one to talk to :( I know this is not directly relevant to PPCT, but is there any place to find similar softwares for a phone say the sony ericsson T60.

I'm not lazy, i looked quite a bit already but apart from some people saying in some forums that it cant be done on the T610 due to non Java support etc. I havent had much luck.

Any pointers will be much appreciated.

BTW, has anyone managed to actually use ProximityMail between 2 or more PDA's? I've installed it on 3 devices: a 2210, a 1940 and a Pocket Loox 720. They didn't see each other, not even after resets and the 30-sec-waiting the FAQ emphasized. Not even after pairing the devices (which wasn't necessary, according to the FAQ).

What have I done wrong?

At last, I've found a decent BT/Wi-Fi adhoc/P2P app with speech/file transfer capabilities! Check out http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=344212
