I just recently got the xda ii mini which has been reasonably good, although i can't seem to delete files from the sd card. as soon as i do, they re-appear a few moments later.

Even if i take the card out, put it in a seperate desktop reader, delete all the files off there, fill up the card with new files which copy across fine. As soon as i put it back in my phone, all the original files re-appear in full working order but none of the new ones!

This is driving me insane so if anyone has any idea what the solution could be i would be very appreciative!

Regards

Matt

Have you tried formatting the card in your card reader, and seeing if this file problem is reproduced afterwards?

For some reason it just says windows is unable to complete the format?

Use the built-in formatting capabilities of Resco File Explorer, Pocket Mechanic 1.49 ( http://www.pocketgear.com/software_...il.asp?id=12178 ) or Storage Tools ( http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html ) then.

Just trying a hard reset. But just can't work out how i can delete the files. fill up the card full with 256mb of new data, and then instally replaces it with the old data! The phones itself can't be storing all the information cause it only has 64mb???
And should i be formatting in Fat or Fat32?

Fat16 or FAT32 you mean. Both will work OK (WinCE has been supporting FAT32 from version 2.11). The particular PDA may, however, have some speed difference in accessing the two file systems (FS). So, give a try to both of them, but, if both work OK, always benchmark your card before sticking with a particular FS to choose the right (faster) one.

Ok well it still aint working! As soon as the card formats using the storage tools program, the files are automaically back on the card! Starting to wonder if the card could somehow be faulty, although i have never heard of such a thing before so am not sure!
Tried all formats on the computer, phone and done a hard reset and nothing appears to be working! :(

my friend had a similar problem with his HP 6315. I had an extra MMC card which worked perfectly fine with my O2 but wouldn't work properly on his HP. He could copy a file to it but couldn't delete. But another weird thing is after copying a file, he needed to do a soft reset to be able to delete or copy another file. But deleting it and doing a soft reset would show that the files were back. But if I took the mmc card and put it in my O2, and deleted the file, it would then be deleted on the HP as well.

Could mean that the card simply won't work with your PPC.

I have tried the card in numerous other devices and the files just keep re-appearing! It's one that came in the box with it. It's a Lexar Media SD card. 256mb
I thought I would try reformatting the card on a freinds computer today, but it still won't format. Just says's windows is unable to complete the format.
Wondering if there is anyway of clearing the boot sector of the card? Cause there is obviously some info in there which is why it won't let me permantly delete the data?

Definitely sounds like a bad card which is not an uncommon tale. It sounds like you are close to exhausting your resources - if it was me I would stop pulling my hair out and contact Sandisk for a replacement. From what I have heard from other people, they are usually pretty good about honoring their manufacturer's warranty.
