I had a close call today with my 2215. With the 18" of snow and ice we've got here over the last couple days, there was an incident where I thought my screen was cracked.... :(

Thankfully, it is fine. But I got to thinking what would my repair options be if my screen was broken, cracked, mangled, etc...

My unit is still under warranty but in a case such as today would that even matter?

Surely someone in this great forum has experienced this!! What are the options to getting the unit repaired? Is HP's Warranty Services any help? Would PPCtechs or any other third party be any help?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!! :)

If your device is under warranty, I'd contact HP first. However, if it wasn't, you still have the option of contacting HP but the cost of repair may be a little pricey - depending on the problem of course. Also, since the h2215 is no longer a "recent" device, you may find that replacement parts may be a little less in supply than you expected.

Otherwise, PocketPCTechs.com is a great stop-off. They have DIY kits here (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/i2200diykit.asp), full service repairs here (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/Services.asp?cat=rep&type=i2200), and RAM upgrades here (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/Services.asp?type=i2200). Hope that helps. :)

Hmmm...better options than I expected.

So a cracked display is typically covered by the manufacturers warranty. That's much better service than expected

Thanks for the advice

It depends on the scenario. If you decided to voluntarily drop your Pocket PC off a high-rise building in the hope of getting it replaced, then the question of warranty-cover may be looked at. ;)

Okay, so perhaps that was a little farfetched, but in most cases, if it didn't live up to standards, then it should be replaced under warranty cover, but it all depends on how you explain it to the manufacturer, and also, whether they have any replacement parts available.
